Issue 5 of London Digest, Spring 2009: Workforce: London School Workforce (PDF Format: Size: 4.49Mb)
This is the first issue which is entirely based on studies conducted by the IOE staff often in partnerships or commissioned by partners such as TDA. This is of course no coincidence, but a testimony to the IOE’s core activities: teacher training and provision of professional and academic development routes for current and future professionals in education. It also resonates with the recently announced outcomes of the UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE):
‘The results show that the IOE has more than twice as many world-leading scholars in education than any other UK university and over one-third of its 200+ researchers are at the global cutting edge. More IOE research staff submitted their work to the RAE than researchers in any other university department in the field (218 full-time equivalent staff).’
The studies reviewed in this issue provide an insight into the richness of IOE research activities underpinning the development of new courses, new types of professional development, development of new ideas and concepts of school leadership and national strategies.
